It does not cover information we hold in the course of acting for a client, which our professional obligations of confidentiality and privilege govern.

We collect the following.

• Subscription details. If you sign up through the "connect for updates from us" form on our home page, we collect the email address you enter so we can send you firm updates.

• Enquiry correspondence. If you write to contactus@ascenduslaw.com, we collect your name, email address and anything else you choose to include in your message.

• Recruitment data. If you write to careers@ascenduslaw.com, we collect your CV and the information in it, including your education, work history and contact details.

• Technical data. When you visit the Website, our hosting platform automatically collects your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the time of your visit. Our [Cookie Policy] explains this in detail.

We do not seek sensitive personal data through the Website. Please do not send confidential or privileged material to us by unencrypted email before we have confirmed an engagement.

 

Why we use it

 

We use personal data to send you the updates you have subscribed to, to respond to your enquiry, to assess your application if you approach us about a role or internship, to operate and secure the Website, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Our hosting platform

 

We build and host the Website on Wix, operated by Wix.com Ltd. Wix processes technical data and any information you submit through the Website on our behalf, and sets the cookies described in our [Cookie Policy]. Wix processes that data under its own privacy policy at https://www.wix.com/about/privacy.

 

Who else we share it with

 

We share personal data with our IT and email service providers, and with regulators, courts or law enforcement where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

 

International transfers

 

Wix stores and processes data on servers outside India, including in the United States, Israel and the European Union. Where personal data leaves India, we take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer meets applicable legal requirements.

 

Testimonials

 

Where the Website names an individual or organisation in a client testimonial, we publish that content with their consent. If you have given us a testimonial and want it removed or amended, write to the Grievance Officer and we will act on your request.

 

Security

 

We maintain reasonable security safeguards, including access controls, encryption in transit, and confidentiality obligations on our people and suppliers, to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or loss.

 

Retention

 

We keep subscription data until you unsubscribe. We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with the enquiry and to run conflicts checks. We keep recruitment data for [12] months from the date we receive it unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we hire you. We then delete or anonymise the data, except where the law requires us to keep it for longer.

 

Your rights

 

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to give you access to the personal data we hold about you, correct or complete it, erase it, or stop processing where you have withdrawn your consent. You may also nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
